What are your dream machines yet to be found?
My favorite appliances are gas ranges and refrigerators. As far as dream machines, too many to list, and no room for them in my current house anyway.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
I have always liked "old things" but no specific memories. I started collecting while in college.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
1952 GE fridge bought at auction for $2.50, painted w/ automotive paint and rechromed all chrome. 1954 Frigidaire bought at auction for $5.00. 1932 GE Monitor Top bought at auction for $25.00. 1949 Coldspot bought while in college for $25.00 - came with original manual (now DOA thanks to Hurricane Ike). 1950 Okeefe & Merritt bought locally, rechomed most parts and had thermostat and safety valve rebuilt - invested almost $1200 in this stove. All small appliances purchased off ebay or from estate sales. 1955 Frigidaire bought on Ebay for $10.00, completely restored spring of 2009. Servel Gas Fridge found on side of road. 1940 Estate range is from my aunt and uncles ranch in the Texas Hill Country. It needs a complete restoration and is currently set up to run on propane. 1936 Chambers Imperial range purchased locally, needs complete restoration which has been started. 1952 Wizard purchased at a local estate sale for $40.00. Foodarama is an ebay find. Roper T&C came from another AW.org member.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Cosmetics on refrigerators, fairly in depth on the OKeefe & Merritt stove and 1955 Frigidaire. In the process of doing a "frame-off" restoration on the Chambers Imperial.
