DE701, I can't answer your question at this time, I haven't attempted to run this dryer yet. I will let you know what I find out. I am betting the timer stops between the different cycles, and then off is just technically a neutral point, but I do not know for sure.

I like the cool white, always have. You can buy a GE "Daylight" today in a F15 and they have a blueish hue to them, you can find them usually at Wallmarts around here.
Someone here can correct me if I am wrong, but it sounds like the o'ring in the bottom of the transmission. I had to make this repair on my 142 many years ago. It's a pretty big job, but well worth the effort. If I were close, I'd help you out.
