What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I would love to start collecting. Esp. the Whirlpool Washer/Dryer and have always wanted a Frigidaire 1/18, after reading about the older Unimatics would like to learn more.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Doing laundry in my moms 63 Kenmore model 70 in the coppertone colour. After she had an accident it was my job to do the family wash, darn<G>. I was 12 or 13 then and even after she recovered, many weeks later, I happily kept on doing the wash. My favourite, though, was when we moved to England for a couple of years. We were given an allowance to purchase new appliances for the house. I was in heaven, they actually let me choose the washer and dryer, woohoo! It was a Bendix Autowasher Delux, circa 1978. That was a great machine, it would heat the water to 95C. Could it clean! I still use that machine to judge standards of clean.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
63 white Kenmore 70 series, just like Moms;84 60 series Kenmore(bought used worked OK, not one of my favourites though);92 Kenmore 90 series, I hated this machine tore up my clothes and the dryer was too hot; 00 Frigidaire FL, back to Fl-Yeah, liked this one alot, cleaned well and the dryer was much cooler. 05 Bosch Nexxt Premium, awesome machine, love the 1200RPM spin.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Replaced the water pump on the 63 Kenmore. I wish I kept this machine.
