Spring 2012 acquisition is a 1953 Blackstone washer. Summer 2012 I got a matched set Almond GM Frigidaire 1-18 washer and dryer. What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
50s GE portable dishwasher, rounded corners on exterior tub and top-loading with a black plastic finned impeller, and a 60 GE slide-out dishwasher with a metal blade impeller. 1962 MOL KENmore washer, 1973 Avacado 1-18 set.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Single previous owner for Easy Spindrier, Hoover sat 30 years unused in sellers basement, Maytag and GE were used for ages before sellers moved out of town and didnt want to take them. RCA Whirlpool washer sat unused in clean basement when new machine replaced it 35 years ago. 1990 Hotpoint dryer was in use by original owner until they retired out of state, and 1992 Kenmore dryer was also in use until sellers spouse decided she wanted electric instead of gas. 1970 GE Mobile Maid was unused for over 20 years
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
40s Chambers Gas Range, 1974 Hoovermatic Twin Tub #0519, 1950s Speed Queen wringer washer F701, 40s Easy Spindrier #516. Just finished a Maytag 1979 A806, and converted it into a poor mans suds saver. Maytag Dryer DE606 now running perfectly after COMPLETE restoration. Next is 1964 Speed Queen wringer machine. 1977 GE Filter-Flo, needed some clutch work, minor other items. 1959 RCA WHirlpool Imperial Mark XII complete teardown/rebuild, complete complete completely torn apart, wow. Recent 1990 Hotpoint dryer and 1992 Kenmore dryer, both gas, I took entirely apart and replaced minor items, un-linted everywhere, lubed, tuned-up, etc. My 1-18 looks like it might require quite an overhaul, but also looks well worth the time and effort. Norge was nearly working condition, just needed a motor and paint. My 1953 Blackstone will require lots of work. LOTS. Complete teardwon/rebuild on a DE606 and DE608. Next up a 1966 GE Premier 1966 gas dryer. Now into 50s 60s dishwashers, well see how this goes. Speed Queen boot was easy.
