What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Kitchenaid Superba like Mom used to have in 1974
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Standing on a stool watching my grandmothers GE filterflo washer.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Bought some of them when I bought my house and still using them. Others were bought on Craigslist for pennies and repaired to daily drivers.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
My sisters piece of crap newer GE the transmission died, I replaced and sold.
A neighbor gave me a modern Frigidaire front loader with a shot motor. I replaced the motor and bearings, then sold it.
My mothers 1987 Kenmore (Frigidaire) dishwasher started making strange noises, then would quit during a cycle and restart once the motor cooled. She bought her current Kitchenaid and I tinkered with the Kenmore...turns out a screw from a pan lid had gotten to the grinder causing strain on the motor. I removed it and reassembled the dishwasher and it worked like new! She then sold it for $50 to a friend from church. Her 94 KA is still going strong!
My own Asko washers motor went out, replaced in 30 minutes and back to washing! Bought a 2013 Frigidaire gas dryer on CL for $20 that wasnt heating. Tested it to find a blown thermal limiter. Replaced for $11 and now using the dryer as a daily driver.
