    Maytag A806 turn over

Quiet Trans To post #7 I did quite a bit of maintenance on this machine, the trans has not been opened up though. I also suspect the machine does not have high hours due to the lettering being mostly intact. Here is the thread I started a few weeks ago and show pictures of the refurb work...

    Maytag A806 turn over

Load size Regarding reply #3 I suspected this was a medium sized load and should have set the water level to medium. Still trying to get the hang of sizing loads properly. Seems to me with pants I have to size up on water level. Other items should be sized to the height of the unwashed...

    Maytag A806 turn over

Here is a short video of me washing whites in the A806. It was a medium sized load and used large water height. Turn over is pretty good.

    Maytag A806 update

Sound deadening The sound deadening did make a difference on the a806, remember my dryer is a dg808 SOH and there isnt much room between the rotating drum and outer shell. I do have a slight rattle in the door that I need to figure out. The dryer is silent otherwise and works very well.

    Maytag A806 update

Rollover Yeah, I made the mistake of the normal load size. If it was that amount of clothes but shirts only or other soft articles I anticipate the rollover would have been great. The beige pants at the beginning are auite stiff. Once I selected extra large load it also rolled over well...

My new 1963 Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII set

Transmission Enjoyed reading this thread. Are you planning on reinstalling the original transmission after it is rebuilt? Or will you store it for future needs. Do you run the RCA’s more than the Maytags?

    Maytag A806 update

Hello everyone, I figured I would give everyone an update on the Maytag A806. It was making a noise that I could not figure out. Ended up being a flat spot on the drive belt. After replacement with genuine maytag belts all is well! This is the list of things done to the a806 so far...

    Looking for advise

Keep the Maytags! Sell the GE‘s for a profit. Save the maytags they will provide you many many years of trouble free service and in the event they do need maintenance parts are readily available and cheap.

Motor glides and lube I believe you are correct. Pulley should be flush with the shaft.

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

New roller and belts on the way, dryer door repaired I ordered new motor glides on ebay for $5. It will give me an opportunity to clean up the tracks and grease them with poly lube. One of my aw friends in tbe area is bringing over a set of maytag belts to see if the clatter goes away. I’m...

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

Hypothesis on the noise After studying the machine some more, I think the noise is caused by two things. The belt has a flat spot in it cauisng the motor to jerk on spin up. The motor rollers/glides look like they are shot. It has good spring pressure but the motor it moving up and down...

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

Some modifications... Tonight I wired in a tub light, being a series 2 this was a feature I determined was a must have! Bought a socket with leads from Ebay, got an old three pole switch at an estate sale, epoxied the bracket to the lid. Used a radio punch to put two round holes in the upper...

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

Adjusted lug and maybe found the problem I adjusted the lug as per spec and I am not getting any indexing on agitate and the spin braking is about 6-7 seconds to a stop. The noise is still present. I ran it on spin with the pump belt on and the noise is still there. Then decided to see if...

    Maytag 806 new acquisition

Thanks for the clarification I was confused with the procedure as I have seen both. I suspect it was incorrect when i pulled the cover off and it definitely is incorrect now. I am going to try the slight tension method first as it seems easier with only two hands. I will report back.
