What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Sitting by my grandmothers Whirlpool Direct Drive and listening to the satisfying hum they made when draining. Also peeking in to watch it wash.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
We owned a basic Roper DD pair when my Dad bought his own house back in 2008. No issues with them and they were left behind when our home was foreclosed on. We moved back into our grandmothers house who owned a Whirlpool DD pair that lasted her until 2018-19 when the washer would not drain. The machines were replaced with a Roper VMW pair. I wish I was old enough at the time to save the washer. We moved back out of my grandmothers house in 2013 and lived in an apartment in NC until 2015. The apartment had a early to mid 2000s basic GE pair. They worked well and gave us no issues. We moved back down to SC and we bought a GE pair from the mid 2000s used. The Dryer failed on us a couple of years into living there. The washer was mostly trouble free only needing the drain pump unclogged once as a bottle cap had gotten stuck inside. As time progressed into living there, we could tell the washer was getting tired as it became noisy and sometimes the tub brake would not work. However it did cling on and worked until my parents moved out of that home in 2022. I moved into my own home in 2021 and it had a Whirlpool VMW WTW4815. It was okay but struggled with large loads. When my father moved into his home, I sold him my 4815 and upgraded to a 2001 Roper DD. This machine served me well until I started collecting and the machines would change out every few months. The Roper was eventually retired and used for parts.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Yes, Mostly Washers.
