The seal assembly radically changed when they went from metal tub to plastic, the older type had a metal bushing in the seal assembly and was a solid set rubber - effectively top support bearing,

As for the pump, can the pulley be removed? As this is what I'd do, spray in some crc to help free the seizure remove pulley and slide the impeller and shaft...

It is possible that it is the tub seal weeping that will cause that....
It's possible that it's leaking from the gasket...
A good way to check gearbox edge is to set it to spin cycle, then blip the lid switch (just enough for motor to elevate gearbox) then you can easily rotate it...
It runs great.... Haven't had to do anything to it....
The 940 had to replace tub seal and tub to pump hose
My 930 I replaced the tub seal, and the timer.
Hoover 500 series motor
Come across this on eBay ... One of these motors are a 500 series motor.... Could be handy for the 500 owners

Was great to see the original brochures of the older Hoover machines .... Tho in my books the premier and later elite machines were the pinpoint of the washing machine decline.....
A Hoover 665 would be quite a machine to have....
