different transmission
the commercial (coin-op) SQ TL used to have a smaller size tub than the home machine.

therefore transmission has different shaft length.

If you want, it is easy to slightly tighten belt. The motor mounting bracket slides in and out slightly to adjust belt tension. It will get worse as belt stretches over time. Needs to be adjusted by you or repairman.

idler braket
my guess,,,, idler wheel bracket is touching motor shaft.
Thats why idler is moving !!! This is caused by belt being adjusted a little loose.
YOU should examine idler bracket where it gets real close to motor shaft,, i think it show in the video, but hard to see.

i would get a new SQ washer with multi-year (3 or 5) parts/labor warranty !!!!!
Maybe get used dryer (WP dryer,, long lint trap model or even SQ)if short on money :).
One service call on "used washer will wipe-out your possible savings on used washer.

Where you going to find lots of good long lasting vintage machines to put in coin laundry environment ????

I maintain speed queen TL coin-ops,, and all i can say is they last a very long time even when heavily used in a rough manor by many different people.
The coin-ops only have a 30 day labor...

Mr Kenmore71,,thanks for good advice. Banging was coming from top of machine.
Opened top and saw totally dried-out "water fill hose" banging top of tub ring. So dried-out it had lots of room on hole it goes into. Put some silicone around it and banging stopped. 25 year old dependable care...
Hi, like the title says, my maytag TL depenable-care makes a banging sound during spin. Everything looks visually OK with panel removed, maybe slight shaking.
Should i assume its main bearing ???
I know there are some old timers here that have worked on many of these in the past.
