Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
-I have worked at selling and repairing and rebuilding major appliances for almost 40 years. I started out with my first washer when I was 7 years old, a neighbor had gotten rid of, it was a 1956 Norge timeline. After that I continued to work on all sorts of electrical things but always loved major appliances. My younger brother Jeff and I were always fixing appliances etc for friends and relatives through our school years and I even worked my way through college never having to have a real job to pay for school and cars etc. I started working at a Maytag home appliance dealer full time in 1974, we also sold KA DWs and a full line of WP appliances I worked for this company for 6 years doing everything from sales to being a technician on the road. During this time I became completely familiar with MT appliances in all aspects of repair features performance etc. It was also during this time that I became familiar with WP appliances and it didnt take long to see that they generally had a superior product in terms of repair friendly, performance and much better value for buck. Many people assume that the fewest repairs makes for the best machine, but I soon found out that lots of customers were not completely thrilled with their new MTs. We had to spend a lot of time reselling to the customers to keep them in the home, this was seldom the case with WP. After this time I went to work for a large WP service company for about 1 year. It was a great experience but I didnt like many aspects of working for a larger company. After this I went to work with a man repair co for 1 year he was going retire and sell my brother and I the business after the year was up. He ended up having such a good year with me their that he got cold feet and wouldnt sell to us. So I quit and Jeff and I started our own company in 1979 and we have both done great ever since. Jeff got out and now works on his own and Jason joined the company about 10 years ago and as of last year is a partner in the business.
