I ended up taking the control panel from this A712 and installed it on my A512. I wanted to salvage the white tub + orbital transmission from what was left over from this A712, so I lifted the cabinet+control panel from an A610 seen here...

That's a pretty good washer for $20, although I see 3 settings for the sliding water level which usually indicates the smaller capacity Maytag.

+1 for these fuctions Hot wash/Warm Rinse (Not often, but sure helps in the dead of winter) Automatic Soak These are the reason I converted my A512 into an A712 and also why i chose an A610 panel instead of re-using the A512 panel on a 2nd machine.
