[I FOUND IT!] I would really like to find a GE Sink/Dishwasher Unit from the 1950s, since that is my earliest exposure to a dishwasher. Im also looking for any other vintage dishwasher or Sink/Dishwasher from the 1950s and 1960s. [AND I FOUND 3 MORE!]
And I will look for Vintage Automatic Washing Machines.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
There is a photograph of myself at age 15 months standing in Moms Double Dexter Washer. I remember turning the drain knob open and dumping water all over the kitchen floor when Mom and Dad were outside. Im sure I really got a severe scolding!
By age 5, I was fascinated to watch my Grandmothers Coronado Automatic Washer (I believe it was purchased from Western Auto). I especially remember the deep (overflow) rinse. I wanted to watch it spin, but the adults discouraged that, but I snuck a peek when they werent watching.
One of my Moms cousins in Carrolton, MO had a 1950s G.E. kitchen which included a Sink/Dishwasher combo. In the mid to late 1960s our family would stay at their house once a year for 2 days. I loved being able to help load and operate the dishwasher. They must have had soft city water because the chrome racks sparkled. That dishwasher made the most wonderful sounds while it was running: pre-rinse; there was an aerator mounted on top of the cabinet so the water could be seen as it was entering the machine; the drain popping closed; the sound of the water as it started coming into the machine, which lead to the roar the impeller throwing the water up and hitting the lid; the water would bubble up around the lid; the pop once again of the drain opening and water draining out; then all is repeated twice more for the two rinses; and the sound of the impeller coming to a stop when the lid opened and steam came billowing out.
The same cousins parents owned a G.E. appliance store in Carrolton called "Ward Electric". In about 1967 I talked my Aunt into giving me a used G.E. MobileMaid dishwasher (unknown year), which my grandfather hauled back to Illinois in the back of his Station Wagon. It was made workable with temporary drain and fill hoses, and at last, I owned my first dishwasher! New hoses were ordered and it soon was operating as a full portable. Our churchs pastors family had one just like it. My family used our MobileMaid for about three years, then it was given away to friends.
I acquired a second used dishwasher in 1970 - a Kenmore "600" Automatic Portable with Exclusive Roto-Rack, Model No. 587.65510 (S/N 24415). I was the 3rd owner. I kept and still have the Operating Instructions book. Some hand written notes inside imply that the machine was bought new in 1962.

Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Maytag E2L Washer: Rust removal on outside cabinet, and disassembly/rebuild of froze-up water pump - completed on July 22, 2008.
The Maytag A308 had a considerable amount of dirt, rust, oil in the tub area and the belt area, which I cleaned with Barkeepers Friend, and some degreaser detergents.
The Maytag P124 had significant oil leaks in the belt area, which I cleaned with degreaser detergents and Barkeepers Friend.
The cabinets on both the A308 and the P124 have some rust, which will require more attention as time permits.
Cleaned the cabinet on the UC110A16; acquired new drawer roller-bearings and retrofitted them to replace missing original roller-bearings; And Im in the process of trying to make a replacement drain valve gasket. I intend to replace the stainless steel lid with Plexiglas for viewing the operation. The home made drain valve seal was successful on the 3rd try - made with bulk rubber gasket material, and silicon sealer!
Major cleaning and attempts to remove the horrible odor. The only leak found was from one of the nuts securing the heating element.
In process on the KD12 - investigating replacing the P-66779 Body & Mounting Plate Sub-Assembly.
MAJOR RESTORATION in progress on the GE Electric Sink/Dishwasher. Needs a new seal between the motor and tub, a new lid seal; the inside and outside of the tub, sink and cabinet are in bad need of repair/paint! I have totally disassemled the unit, and have begun some deep cleaning and evaluating what needs to be done next.
I have cleaned up the HA606, and it only looks like it needs to have the belts replaced.
