I remember those Philips machines: some of them easily made into the 90s with relatively few issues, or even none.
Although I'm an Italian man born in the 70s who grew up with a Rex (Zanussi) split-tub dishwasher, and I'm not a big fan of the loading configuration we used then...
Hello everyone! I've recently found an issue of Which? Magazine (March 1974) featuring an article on dishwashers, and I thought it would be nice to share it with you.
The article is shorter than usual for this kind of topic (6 pages), and the tests carried out by the magazine focus on models one...
Kenwood Dishwasher, 1978
Although I am not British, I have some ads and brochures for UK’s dishwashers and I gladly make a contribution to this interesting thread. I got this one on eBay 4 years ago, the eBayer who sold it claimed it is from 1978.
I’m not a fan of this dishwasher particular...
Hello!
This machine was made in the mid or late 80s: its design is close to that of the SMEG dishwashers made then for the Italian market (and I wouldn't be surprised if the producer of this particular machine was actually SMEG).
Some pics of the interior would be useful to confirm my hypothesis.
Finish powder - UK and EU formulation
The formulation for Finish powder and gel here in the EU and UK as well is no longer chlorine-based (here in Italy chlorine-based Finish powders disappeared from the shelves in the late 90s, while the gel switched to a non-chlorine formulation just 2 years...
Sun expert gel
@Rolls_rapid: Yes, Sun expert gel's pearls are made of a bleaching agent and it's the only gel detergent to clean tea and other bleachable stains completely (Finish classic gel, which was the only dishwasher detergent still available to contain some chlorine, changed to a...
Snaidero "Old America" 1974
When I was born my parents had the same kitchen in the pic, except it was white with an ash-wood countertop and the dishwasher was all stainless steel. The name for this model was "Old America".
Sorry for the bad-quality pic, but it's the best I could find (my folks...
Methinks...
Hi Dimitris,
I've had the same dishwasher (with a bronze fascia) since last June and I'm more than satisfied with it. It had a leak issue not long ago, but it was just the grill over the TurboThermic fan which had got a bit loose and some water leaked inside the door.
My local Miele...
Congrats for such a nice find! I hope you can fix the missing plug and power issues, I have a more recent Thermomix model and I can assure you it's a very useful kitchen tool: it's great for puddings and sauces, cooks risotto very well and is also great for steaming vegetables and most kinds of...
Hi Spacedogb,
the Miele you could get is a high-end model from the early 2000s (it came just after the TOL model in the Miele range of the time), it features lots of different washing programmes including a no-heating wash to use if the machine is connected to a hot water faucet (standard in...
Mike, I had to look for Mario Batali on Google Images as I had never heard of him before - so I discovered he's a very famous chef in the US - and I wish I had his hair :) BTW, you're right, we could look like cousins or some other relatives of the sort if seen together, and none of us looks...
Something British?
Hi guys, here's a video from British Pathé youtube channel where this dishwasher is briefly seen in action from 4'16''. The washing action is the same as a twintub machine, but I do wonder if it was effective... could the machine Robert saw be British-made...
Hello guys,
hope you are doing great. I'm starting this new thread to ask you for some help in determining the cause of a small leak coming from the door of my Miele G562 - I've been using the machine for 2 months now, but this issue came up just a few days ago (BTW, the leak is minor: up to 2...
Pandandi detergent
Pandandi was a biological detergent to be used for the prewash only in the biological wash program (it wasn't meant for use in the wash phase as well: the results would be poor if you did): I can remember that a half-used box of this detergent came out from some corner under...
@vacerator: my oven+range is a very BOL TecnoGas, it's an Italian brand specializing in cooking appliances. It came with the flat and I never replaced it as I should completely renovate the kitchen and couldn't afford that when I moved in in 2002: I just added a new sink, a dishwasher and a new...
