Oh for sure, I'll definitely check the vent. It just seems unlikely to me that the vent will be the problem if the timer only sticks occasionally and starts working again when I basically just jiggle the dial. If the vent were clogged, it seems like the timer would just never advance.

Which vent is that? Do you mean the lint trap? I replaced the belt on it last week and vacuumed out the inside while I was in there but didn't notice anything that looked suspicious.

Further followup: the auxiliary door spring arrived a week ago so I threw it in, and that finally solved the door falling open problem. Glad for this odyssey to finally come to a close.

I think I found the top flange on eBay. Part # 9-11940 has been replaced by 902889 so I ordered one of those. Fingers crossed it's the right part. Yup, the little nylon bushings are there and still in good shape. I played with the different positions for the springs but it didn't make much difference. I might try to order both the springs just in case but worst case scenario I'll just get the main ones and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks...
