What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
I remember the ice box (sic) we had until I was nearly 4 years old, and I seem to recall a couple of guys bringing our first refrigerator down the street about that time. My dad was studying mechanical engineering and HVAC at Oklahoma A&M College on the GI Bill, and supporting the family by working nights for the local Maytag dealer. That enabled him to provide my mother with not only the fridge (used) but also a Maytag wringer washer (used), which was not replaced for another 4-5 years! I remember wondering why the "new" (used) machine had to be automatic.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
In order to have 'em, I have to be able to fix 'em!
