What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
-When I grew up, we had a late 60s Inglis washer and a Maytag Halo of heat dryer.. Anyway, a kind neighbor lady always let me come over and help her do laundry with her Speed Queen pair. I was hooked instantly. I loved how differently it worked in comparison to the Inglis. It was kind of an antithesis of what I was used to. It had the solid tub, stainless steel. Throwing the water up and out the top vs. neutral drain and rather slow spin. The unique sound of the timer escapement marking every minute of the cycle also impressed me.
Another favorite memory I have is helping my grandmother do her laundry with her 58 Inglis wringer washer (which I inherited). That was fun putting the clothes throught the wringer, rinsing them in the laundry tub, and putting them through again and hanging the clothes on the clothesline. She taught me how to properly iron everything
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
I try.
