I remember someone once suggesting that if purchasing a dishwasher like this that has sat for a long time, fill it first with hot water directly from the tap and let it sit. I think that helps to soften any brittle seals? Others would know far more about this!
Wow! When I got rid of an old Maytag Dishwasher, I put an add on Facebook Marketplace advertising first come/first serve...hauled it to the curb. Someone immediately messaged me and it was gone in 30 minutes.

I must admit that I'm always confused about HE detergent dosing in an old school top loader. Does one use the same dose as an HE machine? Since new HE detergents don't suds, I always wonder if I'm using the right amount.
I have a set of them in various sizes. They're probably most often used for cheese cake. I also use them for crumb cake and coffee cakes with toppings when I don't want to leave the cake in the pan. The spring form is useful in that case because flipping it out of the tin will ruin the topping!
