So I’ve tried using a fair bit of Inox with no luck at all. I think heat is my only option. I’ve hit the hub with a rubber mallet and a mini sledge with a piece of wood in front too. I’ve tried jamming up the transmission against the tub supports and turning the tub as hard as I can and it’s...
Thanks so much Gizmo! I can’t express how helpful you’ve been to me with these old Aussie machines, you certainly know your stuff for sure. I’ve just removed the rust today with a wire wheel and bought some Inox and put it on it. Hopefully this works!
Certainly a well built machine, very very...
Hi everyone,
Picked up this relatively good condition Hoover 720 over the weekend. I want to remove the inner drum to give it a good clean as it’s really dirty. I’ve gotten to the point where the drum should just pull out, but being 45 years old it isn’t proving to be easy. I’ve tried hitting...
Thanks for the reply John!
I’ll try heat, I’ll just need to buy a propane torch first! I am a bit worried I’ve damaged something now, the pulsator does still go up and down fine but there is a little bit of play side to side on it, will this be ok? The spin bearing does need replacing on it...
The term “A.I.” Has been around for ages. The new thing though is L.L.M’s, Language learning models. They create a response to a question based on all the information they have allocated to them. The problem with that is if there is any misinformation in that pool of information it will be spat...
Still having trouble with it. I’m hesitant to put heat on the bolt as I’m worried it will damage the pulsator. I would use a dremel tool but don’t have a spare nut! I’m also worried about putting too much force on it and then break the pulsator shaft.
I have tried impacting it with no luck...
Thanks for the help. I don’t have any spares so I might be a bit stuck there. I think I might try heating it up but doing it in a way that doesn’t damage the pulsator. Thanks again!
Greatly appreciate the help John!
I had a look at one that was on eBay and saw it was pretty pricey, but with the model number lookup it made it a whole lot easier to find a cheaper one!very thankful for that! Have ordered one now.
As for the machine it’s in pretty good used condition, the...
Hello again,
Trying to remove the pulsator in the my Frigidaire but the bolt seems incredibly difficult to remove, is it reverse thread or just stupidly tight? I don’t want to risk breaking something.
Here’s a photo:
Hi everyone,
My Malleys Whirlpool belt drive 2196 pump has decided it wanted to leak shortly after fixing up the machine. I have tried pulling it apart to check the seals and clean them and put some graphite paste (I believe that’s what it is, it was spare stuff from putting it on front load...
