I asked the same thing when I saw that advert about Persil on the Wisk page.

Saving a washer/dryer that has sat outside?

My 1977 FilterFlo was outside, full of frozen water and had the pump completely full of water as well. I defrosted it and it worked just fine. That was a year ago and that pump still works. All it needed was a belt and a lid switch. It was not for two years, though.

    Kitchen tools

All my kitchen knives are Warther's knives made here in Ohio. One of them was from my grandmother and is at a minimum 40 years old though it has never been in the dishwasher. I'll trek over there for sharpening every so often. Still made there which is nice. http://www.warthercutlery.com

Fabric Softener Sales Plunge - Millennials Don't Know What It Is For

As a millennial, I can take credit for inconsistent use of fabric softener. I use Persil PowerPearls in my Steam Duet and they seem to work just fine without too much static. I seldom see any suds unless I wash blankets or towels that were last washed in the old top loader. My brother, on the...

Mmm, Avocado. 1975 Kenmore Dryer Acquired

After getting it all back together, though, she fired right up. It has the most quiet timer I have ever heard and the sensor works great, even on 110v. Though that wire and thermostat were destroyed, the heating element still worked and the dryer was much quieter than the donor dryer, though the...

Mmm, Avocado. 1975 Kenmore Dryer Acquired

When I saw it in person, much to my surprise, the dryer was a most unexpected green color. The seller said it came with his house and just hummed when one attempted to run it. I determined that it was a bad motor and used the 1991 Kenmore with the damaged body as the donor. From what I gathered...

Mmm, Avocado. 1975 Kenmore Dryer Acquired

After seeing it posted again and wanting to rid my garage of a 1991 almond with black panel Kenmore, I decided to jump on the $5 broken Kenmore with hopes I could fix one of the dryers.

GE Standard Capacity Dryer Heating Issues

John, You had it exactly right. I was very off. I didn't realize that on this dryer, L2 was black and L1 was red so it was L1 dryer red to black on the power cord and dryer black and dryer white to power cord white in the center. It fired right up and heated up immediately. I cannot thank you...

GE Standard Capacity Dryer Heating Issues

Good Evening! I was at a flea market and had the opportunity to pick up a mostly unremarkable 1986 GE regular capacity dryer in Almond for $5.00. The seller said it was "dead" but couldn't give more of an explanation. I want to keep it outside in the garage to fluff clothes that had been out on...

Rescued from the Cold - Orphaned Filterflo

I found the machine at Menards on Ety Road in Lancaster off of 33. I live in Newark and it's the most convienient store to me.

Rescued from the Cold - Orphaned Filterflo

It did not come with the mini basket. I have the mini basket from my old FilterFlo but it had an Activator so I'm a large capacity Activator shy of using the Mini Basket. Maybe one day I'll find one but until then the straight vane should be acceptable. Probably easier than trying to find a mini...

Rescued from the Cold - Orphaned Filterflo

No, the basket was almost immaculate. That black water was in the pump hoses; the ice chunks that came out of it before I ran it had that black stuff in it too so I'm not sure what exactly it is but I am assuming it's worked it way out now. There is a bit of rust around the top of the outer tub...

Rescued from the Cold - Orphaned Filterflo

Update She's working just fine! I'm not sure about the inlet leak issues yet because the valve needs replaced but I got everything defrosted and with the new belt and the original pump returned to service, she's working great. Next step is serious cleanup and getting the fill valve sorted out.
