That centre post looks pretty rusty, you could wire brush it to remove flaky rust, otherwise it will fight you all the way up. After cleaning up the post, I'd soak the top of the aluminium hub (where the post passes through) with Inox spray, it's a fantastic loosener-upper. Let the Inox soak...

Are you intending to get it working? That Hoyt machine is 415 volts 3 phase, how will you power it? 3-phase power is very unusual in Aussie homes.

It is quite common that the wire to the wigwag breaks right at the terminal on the wigwag. The copper wire inside breaks due to the flexing of the wire as the wigwag moves back and forth. The plastic insulation remains undamaged so it is an "invisible" break, it is just the copper wire strands...

Hi Louis That white plastic ring is a spacer, not a seal. In your second photo there is a stainless steel cap at the tip of the aluminium hub. (Centre of photo.) You can lift off that stainless steel cap (it looks like a stainless steel washer with a leg off to one side) to get to the seal...

Make is General Electric, like it says across the top. Where are the controls for the top elements? Does the top lift up or something like that?

24" wide is a w-i-d-e stove in Australia, not narrow. Most stoves here are 54 cm (21 inches) or 60cm (24 inches.) Back when this stove was made, the vast majority were 54cm, a 60cm stove was a posh model.

The selector is labeled "DELICATE FABLICS." That is gorgeous. What a sweet little machine.
