What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My grandparents had what was probably an early 50s vintage Hamilton gas dryer that had to be lit each time before using (I think it was a Hamilton). It had an ozone lamp, drum light, and window to look inside while drying. It was not until I was much older that he let me light it because I think he feared Id blow up the house. My grandmother also had a Maytag Model N or Cheiftain round tub wringer and a Maytag A806 I think washer. AHH. If only I had access to their house now!
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Well, my parents owned an Amana washer from the mid 90s, w/a stainless tub (built by Speed Queen at the time), and a early 90s GE dryer. A new Speed Queen replaced it several years ago. Currently in too small a house to own anything else yet, but working on that now. Would love to get my hands on a wringer. :o)
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Looking to convert a built in dishwasher to a portable. Thats the next project.
