I changed the tub bearing in our 2 belt top loading Maytag washing machine last year. I sourced the bearing kit on Amazon so I don't think it was a factory item. The bearing makes the common loud noise in the fast spin dry mode and has continued past what I thought might be a break-in...

Thank you. I am going to install a tub bearing. Is it wise to put any lubrication of any kind on the bearing? Or just install dry?

Our Maytag LAT2300AAE makes a whirring noise only when on spin dry cycle. Is this the tub bearing? And if so. Can it be lubricated? Thanks

I found the solution to my problem. Thank you for your help and maybe this will help someone else also. The plastic receiver inside of the transmission that receives the splined agitator shaft had accumulated black gunk to the point that it had pushed the shaft up out of the receiver itself to...

Interesting. Is it possible that the transmission (because of malfunction) would agitate during the normal wash, but would not agitate during the presoak and rinse? It definitely is agitating during the area between 6 and rinse.
