Thanks for the input everyone I decided today I would switch to potassium chloride. I picked up a bag at wally world for $19 (ouch). Removed all my salt pellets and removed and cleaned out the Dark & muddy looking water from the brine tank. aside form the nasty looking brine water a dead tree...

Potassium Chloride Vs. Sodium Chloride in a water softener

Hard water in Omaha Wow 100 lbs in 2 months that's fast! My reservior is 80% full of salt pellets and will most likely take a year to empty. We currently have our Culligan set to regen with 5 lbs of salt and seems to be keeping the water soft the entire time between regeration cycles every 850...

Potassium Chloride Vs. Sodium Chloride in a water softener

I'm currently using regular salt pellets in my whole house water softener. Someone made a claim on another forum that if one switched from salt to potassium chloride you would have less sudsing and better rinsing of soap/detergent from laundry. Does anyone have experience in using potassium...

POLL: How much STPP do you add to your FL's detergent?

I'm adding roughly 1 TSP of STPP to my American detergents in my LG FL for an average laundry load. I have soft water (whole house water softner). I'm still trying to get the proper ratio to prevent over-sudsing. I have already reduced my soap dosage by 50% due to my water quality, However...

    New Kenmore Washers released

59 min sanitize From your link 3belt "Eliminate 99.9% of bacteria in only 59 minutes with the NSF® Express Sanitize Cycle. Other front load washers can take up to 2 1/2+" I guess you can heat 2 cups of water with 120v to sanitation temps in 59 min. I wonder how it cleans though.

this was my set from 1993 to 2004 when i switch to frontloads

better temp controls in Europe Thanks for the link Haxisfan. That Hoover looks nice and looks like it gives the user complete temperature control. Our government in all its "Green" wisdom will never give us those temperature settings like on the hoover. 73.8c (165F) is the sanitary cycle on my...

this was my set from 1993 to 2004 when i switch to frontloads

Time is money I agree 3beltwesty. Your old 1976 westy is a perfect example of a front loader that can actualy clean dirty laundry in a short amount of time due to larger water volume. I would rather have my laundry clean in the shortest amount of time. Longer wash times just equals more wear on...

this was my set from 1993 to 2004 when i switch to frontloads

I'm going back to top-loader too. After almost two years using my frontloader it's safe to say I'm going back to TL. I don't even think I'm going to wait till it breaks. I would love my front loader if: 1. It let me adjust the water level that I want. 2. Let me set the water temp that I...

    Ariel MATIC baja espuma

I can find all but one of the currenty produced (Mexican made) Ariel laundry detergents locally. Does anyone know where I can order the bajaespuma version online? I can't find it anywhere. As a side note I've been adding 1/2 cup of Borax to my front loader and it is keeping the suds down very well.

Finish powerball tabs reformulated? - 8.7% phosphate

Photos I'll post some photos later. I was expecting the same phosphate free markings when I picked up the huge 120 tab container.... I could not find "phosphate free" in the normal green area. That's when I noticed the "add-on sticker" over the package contents - as if the formula was changed...

Finish powerball tabs reformulated? - 8.7% phosphate

I was surprised to see Finish powerball tabs with 8.7% Phosphate at my local Costco. The date on the container is 2010 and each tab is sealed in a clear plastic (not white). I'm wondering if this the last of some old stock or new stuff intended for a somewhere in europe or Canada as all the text...
