What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
In about 1968 watching my grandmother get a new Maytag automatic washing machine (std capacity, black agitator, fabric softener cup) to replace her round-front Kenmore automatic washer (I think this was their early bolt-down).

My other grandmothers old 1952-ish Whirlpool automatic washing machine (with suds saver)--the one with the cool blue button to pop the lid...marbled red/black agitator
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Interesting appliances in the family:

James D/W mentioned above. I dont think it had the sani-rinse feature, though.

My grandmother had the interesting combination--the above mentioned Whirlpool washing machine with a Rheem Wedgewood (!) gas clothes dryer. She also had a 1940 Chambers gas range which she used until she broke up the house in 1990 or so. She also had a huge upright Westinghouse freezer from the early 50s probably, and her first Norge refrigerator was in the basement from around 1929.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
My dad was good to work on stuff with, we did several repairs on our 1963 Kenmore Model 70 washer (coppertone) together, and also got good at taking apart our Kenmore dishwasher (about a 1968 model) because we got things stuck in the impeller (I remember blue milk lids getting stuck in the macerator blade).

Also remember I was responsible for the dehumidifier (my mom was nutty, hanging sheets up in the basement then running a dehumidifier) which thoroughly impressed the neighbor kids when I took it apart b/c it was making a noise.
