IDK how Whirlpool’s value stream works, but I was at a job where we contracted with the same manufacturer in Mexico that made Electrolux’s dishwasher and oven PCBs.
It sounds like Elux did main architectural design and the actual board layout and design was done at a sister branch of the...
LEAP was just the Program and Engineering code name.
We use those all the time.
One of Whirlpool’s dishwasher control board was called Skywalker.
Many projects i’m on, are named after towns, rivers, or James Bond villains.
I don’t think you see many mechanical timers even on low end units anymore.
The high volume of timer production has gone way down, making them more expensive. I think there’s only a few dryers out there that might use a timer?
Everything has moved to PCBs because their volumes and part costs...
I don’t think there was a “by far biggest issue.”
I think it was death by a thousand cuts.
For many reasons already mentioned.
I did think of a new one. The Neptune Laundry Center. That huge drying cabinet that went for thousands of dollars.
I can’t imagine they sold many.
The tooling alone for...

Well here we go!
Big bad Chinese GE Haier is moving more manufacturing to Appliance Park.
This will be the front loader lines as well as the Combo washer/dryer line.
I must say...
That history precedes me but maybe another member can clarify.
I think ISE wanted to offer a dishwasher line, but instead of create their own, they partnered with Hobart.
Which made sense to me. Only Hobart then, had that neat stainless steel disposal/drain impeller.
You’re not reading anything we’re saying apparently.
I don’t want you to actually go away. I actually find insider info from technicians quite interesting.
But posting all the broken machines you get over and over is NOT interesting.
Idk why you keep doing it.
There were a few other posts...
STOP reporting every freakin model number you’re “working on” then. I have enough stress at my own work.
Your data is pointless without any constructive context. You’re wasting your time!
If you’re going to present us with charted or graphed data by make and model, of issues, fine. Or doing...
Quite the contrary. inSinkErator is the last “good” brand left. All US made still.
They made some recent changes to their grind chambers. Making them a little smaller, but they still have models with 2, 3, and now 4 grind stages.
I just realized, the only USA appliance motors I think we still make are in InSinkErators. Who is owned by Whirlpool now.
They’re still vertically integrated AFAIK.
I feel like modern day suspension washers could really benefit for a snubber like that belt drive has in the corner there. It would probably work wonders on all the balance issues today.
I’m pretty sure Emerson got out of the appliance motors business a while ago.
It probably wasn’t Whirlpool’s choice to ditch them.
Most motors are not made in the USA anymore. That ended a while ago.
GE Motors was spinoff into Genteq which also got bought out. All manufacturing moved to China...
