What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Helping my grandmother do laudry in her vintage 1950s wringer washing machine c. 1975. Being fascinated with the suds-return feature of my mothers 1970 Kenmore series 70 washing machine, especially the oddly self-satisfied sound the machine made made after it had finished pumping the water from the storage tub back into the machine. Being completely obsessed with a dishwasher display at the old Wards store on the midway in St. Paul where they had replaced the door with a piece of plexi-glass and you could actually watch the water spraying. This was sometime in the mid-1970s.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
I have done much appliance repair for my mother and myself over the years but never any restorations. I have worked on a 1971 Kenmore washing machine, a 1982 Kenmore washing machine, a 1977 Maytag dishwasher, a 1997 Kenmore dishwasher, a 1979 Kenmore electric range, a 1967 Kenmore electric dryer, a 1992 Maytag electric dryer and a 1970 Magic Chef gas range. Have done a pretty thorough refurbishment of a 1967 Maytag A806/DG806 pair.
