What are your dream machines yet to be found?
A Hoovermatic portable. I have been fascinated by them since I was a child and my aunt had one. Also Would love an old Frigidaire Unimatic or similar. Also would love an original series Neptune and the Neptune Top Loader. The dual discs are just to awesome to watch in action.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Doing laundry with my granny on her wringer washer. It ignited my love of laundry and of vintage machines.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
I had two I wish I had never parted with. A early 90s Sanyo portable. it was so good for its size and how it worked. I also had a Early to mid 1970s GE top loader with the filter and small basket. I let go of her when I moved in 2003 and got my first front loader. She was a tank and I miss her terribly. When I was a kid my mom had a matching early -mid 80s Amana set that was awesome!
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
I repaired my Maytag Gemini double oven gas range that I had scored at a Goodwill for 45.00. I replaced both oven ignitors. She was a 2004 model and she lived until lasted 2023 when her burner ignitors shorted and threw the breaker.You could smell burned and melted wires. made us worry about fire. I have also replaced the pump on my Samsung washer. I have replaced the motor, belt, drum rollers and supports on my Maytag Neptune.
