New Washer & Dryer Set Suggestions

pix Thanks about giving your advice in reply#2. Also would like to see what your mom's LG looks like. How did it hold up? How old are the pair? Do you remember how much your mom paid? Have you needed service? Do you have mold issues with the washer? And how long does an average 'normal' or...

    What is the purpose

We have an LG Tromm washer and dryer, and they’re great. Question- at the end of each drain, it releases about 5 seconds worth of water. Why does that occur? Thanks.

    Goofballs on HGTV

Well, I don’t like go against common thoughts, but I’m a big clutz, messy, clumsy, entertertain a lot, and generally accident prone. My kitchen is stainlesss steel, with built in appliances, all I need is a microfibre rag with water to keep them clean, and the granite surfaces allows me to place...

Finally a good video of the GE unitized washer....

    New dishwashers and hot water

I’ve got a closed loop hot water system and is 200 foot run, with a new Grundfos Alpha pump. The old Grundfos had a remote, but inevitably I forgot to shut it off. The Alpha has the same technology as the Nest products in that it eventually figures out your usage patterns and adapts. I LOVE...

    Washer tour of Ontario

Update - we needed a mini vacay between visiting families, and making the transition from Hanukkah to Christmas. We are on our way to Muskoka which has become the summer retreat for the elite. Our family have been there before it became ruined, and über expensive. In any event we rented a...

    Cookbooks and more cookbooks

Hi Vacerator, my name is Steve. I put my iPad in ziplock bag, and use for almost all recipes now. Thanks for the comment on the cabinets. They are all solid cherry, inside and out, custom made, by a well respected cabinet maker. I actually have a lot of books, commissioned him for a bookcase...

    Cookbooks and more cookbooks

This is a portion of my cookbook collection. I have issues of Cook's Illustrated dating to 2003. They're all going, except for Julia Child and Joy of Cooking. I find I'm using the internet for the same exact recipes, and I could use the space for my Le Creuset collection.

    Non-Stick Skillet

RevvinKevin, thanks, I knew it when I bought the set. It was totally my fault. It was New Years, we had a party, I may have had 1 glass too much of wine. I can't go to bed with a dirty kitchen, in the KitchenAid they went. I learnt a lesson, useless cookware, and a BIG hole in my bank...

    Non-Stick Skillet

I'm not sure about the U.S. but in Canada we have a product called The Rock (the 2nd pic). It's nonstick, but it's clad onto stainless steel, not a coating so nothing to wear off. It's also good for high heat, but it's only used for eggs, which I've not mastered on the All Clad or Le Crueset...

    Washer tour of Ontario

Ok, here are some dryer, stove, and dishwasher pix. You'll see from the dial how it goes into wrinkle care mode. The stove, well, it's weird. There's a toggle switch beside the outlet, but it doesn't do anything. I tried plugging the coffe maker into it, it worked regardless of the switching...

    Washer tour of Ontario

It's a really great machine. Too many options. I like when you select the hot wash, it's actually a HOT wash, no water mixing. I also like the pauses before the drains. Have to say though, it's a bit noisy. Small price to pay for clean clothes. Wish I could take it home. Will take some pix...

    Washer tour of Ontario

I seem to be chronicling our tour by taking pix of washers... We are now in Kingston, visiting my Alma Mater Queens University where I studied law. Kingston is still lovely, and fortunately most of the stone buildings circa 1860-1880 still exist. If any of you ever get here, you have to eat at...

    My friend's washer

I'm staying at our friend's house in Ottawa, as I'm at a conference. Is it bad I snapped some pix of her washer? I didn't get an interior shot. It's REALLY gross. Filled with black mold - but it doesn't smell. It's killing me not to throw some bleach in there, but there isn't any. Is this a...
