    POD 5-2-2024

It's an AMP 56-57 which was rhe last year for that design. The helical debuted with the 58 model. One way you can tell it's an AMP from the photo in the POD is the large bolt on the side of the tub. The AMP machines had the inner and outer tubs bolted to each other. Also, you'll notice the lid...

    Holy turquoise!

I have this same machine in brown. Circa 1962 or 63. I know you'll enjoy it. I believe the official name is shaded coppertone but it looks more like milk chocolate to me.

Please help me understand whats happening in each phase of the washing cycles

Sounds like the timer is having a meltdown. You might try cleaning the contacts. If they're dirty you won't get a good connection. Otherwise it may be time for a new timer.

    1950 through 1952 whirlpool washer

What a great find. I love the red bakelite agitator. Why are the wires hanging from the temp knob? I hope you will do a video of it washing once you get it cleaned up and running.

Everything You Remember And Miss About ... Sears

I miss going to Sears with my Dad on Saturdays. He always shopped for Craftsman tools and lawn supplies and I would go to the appliance department and check out the Kenmore washers. In those days (1960s) they always had two or three models hooked up to water so the salesmen could fully...

    arrrrg

Jon, I have the exact model in my kitchen. I got it from someone who was going to throw it on the curb when they were remodeling their kitchen. I rescued it, did a little work on the drain valve, and it's been my daily driver for about 12 years now. I do have one issue that just started a few...

    Welcoming A Westy!

That's a cool Westy. Probably the last model with a black agitator before they switched to blue. The long spray rinse does a great job too.

what would be your dream vintage washer to own or add to your collection in 2023?

There are three in particular. 1958 Kenmore tineline, a 1956 Hotpoint and a 1958 GE filter-flo 2 cycle with the pink diaL.

    Spray Rinses/Early ‘60s Kenmores w/ Suds Savers

A very nice looking Kenmore. I've always loved the late 50's and early 60's models with their multi-colored cycles on the timers.
