    Baby It Is Cold OutSide!

It's been so cold here lately - regularly below freezing. I was pleasantly surprised this morning when it was only 0°C (32°F), it felt almost warm! It's just after 8pm now and already -1°C (30°F) outside... Not good!

    Blizzard #2, 2009

vacfanatic I don't think I've ever seen so much snow! Once you've dug out your own driveway can you actually go anywhere?? Here, that much snow would simply cripple our roads. The disruption caused here by a an inch or two of snow the other week really puts us to shame! It's all gone now -...

    Energy efficient tumble dryers

Well, thank you all for your comments. Particularly Mike whose description and diagram were very helpful! In answer to Mike's questions I would answer as follows: 1. The dryer can be vented and there is already a vent there although my current tumble dryer is a condensor one. 2. The washer's...

    Energy efficient tumble dryers

Hello I'm considering replacing my old tumble dryer. I'm quite keen for it to be as energy efficient as possible. I've found 2 which are A rated and are both condensor models. The ones I've found are AEG T59840 and John Lewis JLTDC10. (I do believe, however, that JL products are made by AEG.)...

    Ecover Laundry Liquid/Surcare

Thanks for all your replies, very helpful indeed. I think I might give the Ecover products a try. It will be a welcome relief (I hope) from the strong, overwhelming and long-lasting perfumes that seem to be popular at the moment. One thing I did notice when reading up about the Ecover liquid is...

    Ecover Laundry Liquid/Surcare

I'm considering changing over to Ecover Laundry Liquid. The regular liquids/powders just seem to have varying levels of overpowering fragrances. I thought that Ecover would be better as far as this is concerned. What do you think of Ecover Laundry Liquid? Is its fragrance not too overpowering...

    Washing temperature and saving money...

In these ecological times and with ever increasing electricity prices I'm re-assessing my laundry habits. In the good old days I'd wash coloureds/clothing at 40°C and bed linen and towels at 60°C and then I'd put most of it in the tumble dryer. The coloureds/clothing now get washed at 30°C and...

Hugs and kisses from San Francisco

Interesting! Where I live in the UK it's currently £1.11 per litre at the petrol station around the corner. I think I've worked this out correctly, but I believe that based on a US Gallon this equals $8.23 a gallon! The price per litre was under 90p a year ago...

    How are your appliances connected

Some older meters (like mine!) are still in cubic feet. It's converted to cubic metres for billing purposes, however.

    How are your appliances connected

This subject is very interesting and I thought I'd share some pictures of my own electricity and gas meters. My house is a 1930s one and both meters are inside the house although newer properties have the meters in cupboards outside. Tim Gas meter
