Why are gas wall ovens disappearing?

Gas ovens can be vented but nobody wants to bother In 1970,my parents had Kenmore brushed chrome-plate (we call it SS now)gas built-ins installed(my dad worked for Sears). He told the workmen he wanted the oven vented to the outside.Indeed,I saw the knockout on top of the oven and reminded them...

Why are gas wall ovens disappearing?

I don't have one,but I have noticed that gas wall ovens have been slowly disappearing from the market, with fewer and fewer models available on the market each year. How come? I have seen a number of people decline to replace built-ins and replace them with a freestanding range. I think it's...

Are gas ranges on their way out?

A number of years ago my dad, while working for Sears service, had an opportunity to work on some of the first induction ranges(1980s). He's in electronics, and none of the stove repairmen could sucesssfully repair them. He witnessed a horrible incident back then that fortunately can't happen...

Anyone still have a gas refrigerator?

Just wondering if anyone still has a gas refrigerator after the "recall". I believe they(the CPSC) just wanted another non-CFC alternative off the market so they fabricated the story about excessive carbon monoxide produced by the burners of the old Servels. They worled very well. My grandfather...

Are gas ranges on their way out?

I don't like the chlorine-like smell of gas ovens during startup either. It's probably because they are not removing all the impurities and byproducts at the natural gas processing plants. Even though I like gas,I would probably pick an electric oven for a new stove. Oe exception-I detest the...

Are gas ranges on their way out?

Smart people cook with modern gas! ... slogan,American Gas Association,1963. I'm very concerned that we are not teaching our young people how to respect gas and use it safely. We are bringing up a generation raised on microwave food and perpared mixes-boxed dinners, etc. You don't know how many...

Are gas ranges on their way out?

Even though gas cooking is far superior to electric(and 96 percent of professional chefs prefer it),I've noticed a disturbing trend-people switching from gas to smoothtop electric ranges. Why? You can't cook during a power failure and have limited heat control.

Will top loader washers be discontinued?

Just wondering if top loader washers are to be discontinued in the future per DOE regs. Also what is going to happen to affordable low end maschines(Roper,Inglis,Admiral, low end GE)?

The Difference Between Electric and Gas Users

    First bathroom fans-when?

Think I found my answer I have seen some online ads for Pryne & Co.,Inc.as early as 1946 which lists the Blo-Fan as the original electric ceiling ventilator (in three sizes)and lists bathrooms as one of its uses for the smallest size.

    First bathroom fans-when?

Wanted to find out when the first RESIDENTIAL bathroom fans were introduced. Believe it was around 1948-53.I know that fans for kitchens and commercial restrooms were introduced much earlier and the first ones were adaptations of industrial fans until Broan introduced the Motordoor ,the first...
