What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My families 90s Roper direct drive washer was what launched my love for applainces at a very early age, it was just one of the childhood interests I developed that stuck with me into adulthood. It was not like any other bland roper you’d find, it was a earlier 90s model It was the highest grade available, super capacity tub & the gorgeous turquoise dual action agitator, It had the older transmission and pump, and I loved that machine like no other and laundry day was always an exciting time. I have so many memories of my grandmother running two cycles every laundry day, a large load and then a smaller load right afterwards and I still remember a time where she did a hot load of whites. I would assist her with ironing and folding laundry as she was getting loads done and can remember the sounds from that older style machine very well. One day it sprung a leak in 2007 and my family threw it out and got a 2007 Whirlpool DD and I was not pleased with that as I’m sure it was a minor repair that our Roper needed and the new whirlpool was rather bland in comparison but served us well and it was the next best thing.

We had a Hotpoint pot washer dishwasher that came with our house when my grandparents and my parents bought the home, we used it twice or three times per year because mt father set a rule for hand washing only cause the dishwasher used too much water he claimed but over the years he listened to me and realized that conclusion of his wasn’t true so we began using it and stopped hand washing. My grandparents that lived up north in Onaway Michigan had a brand new 2003 Maytag Qiuet Series dishwasher in all stainless inside and out and I absolutely adored it, it was the final true Maytag dishwasher they made before whirlpool took over Maytag. It was such a high quality dishwasher and it was Maytags first tall tub stainless interior dishwasher. They also had a late 80s Maytag laundry center with the pitman transmission and turquoise three hole powerfin in the washer that had the electronic controls and my gramma would always use Tide powder and the many variants of it they offered back then. My other grandparents in Wisconsin had a early 90s Speed Queen set which launched my love for the Queens, the washer had a gigantic fat softener dispenser on the top of the agitator which was pretty cool and quite rare.
