    you know what sucks

Thanks, Chris for answering my question about the lint filter. Now I know I wasn't just delerious from the Downy fumes! Great job on a great machine. Kelly

    you know what sucks

What is up with Kelvy's agitator caps, anyway? I could swear the '58 I remember as a kid had a filter-flow style lint filter held in place by a large chrome knob. Yet Ben's has the older-looking red cap. Was the lint filter (serving as a detergent dispenser) an option? Was it's dad was a GE? It...

AFTER 13 LONG YEARS THE SEARCH IS OVER!!!!!!!!!!

Your dream come true! Congratulations! An Apex at last. I remember the 'dread thread' and hoped then that you'd find your Apex some day without the drama. Well, this one wasn't easy either, but now it's home and working! For all you've done for the washaholics out here, you deserve it, Robert...

    Season's Greetings

Haven't been very active here at AW lately, but still love seeing the classics and appreciate the effort many of you put into restoring and caring for them. The old Frigidaire and Kitchen Aid have made it though another year! Happy holidays and best wishes to all. Kelly

    Automatic washers make high art!

And the winner is... Those of you who own one of these! Another JWM print.

    Automatic washers make high art!

I saw an ad for this artist in Atomic Ranch magazine, and immediately thought of all of you. The work is by Jim Ward Morris, who has many interesting retro/mid-century/post-modern photo prints and signed Gilcee prints are quite reasonable. Please don't copy or forward these as they are...

    Frigidaires in Southwest Virginia

What finds! As amazing as finding these is the thoughtfulness of the seller to contact aw.org rather than just have them hauled off. I don't know if he was aware of our group or did some research to find it. I'm sure Robert thanked him. Enjoy the new machines, I'll be waiting for photos of...

    Todays POD-----

Takes me back That looked so familiar, very much like our old Whirlpool. One of the few from that era I've seen, even here. Thanks, Rick, for posting the photos of your pair. Ours had the same panel (lighted!) but different controls - two turquoise knobs for water level and temperature and the...

    superba 22?

Yup - My daily driver too! Even with the black panels as this one has. The model number is KUDS22TO1. The last digit has some significance (I remember that being mentioned here a year ago or better) but it's the same machine. Those who've heard about it will know, it was salvaged from the...

    1960 WCI's Control Panels

What a knockout! Rick, I don't think I'd ever seen that model and I remember a lot of early 60's Frigidaires. 1960s were still unimatics, weren't they, and the last year before the clamshell control panel? Wouldn't mind seeing more pictures of that beauty. Good luck finding the transmission! Kelly

    WIB 1-18

1979 WIC Great machine! I'm glad the seller (benefactor?) didn't flake, You got a winner. I have a '79 WIC. The control graphics are a little different, but the same controls with the water-level icon. It's worked without a problem since I bought the house and inherited it 11 years ago! A usin'...

Does anyone remember washers or dryers of thier childhood?

We had 1959 Whirlpools, second from the TOL. Lighted consoles and the famous sugilator! But the really cool washers were at others homes: One aunt had 1958 Kenmore 4-stars which I thought were beautiful. Another had a 1958 or 9 Kelvinator that fascinated me. It wasn't until seeing the video of...

    MAYTAG HALLUCINATIONS

You weren't seeing things, Marty Some friends of ours had the same Maytag. Very basic, just hot or warm water temp and that was IT. I've never seen or read about one here, so they must be very rare. Kelly

Tiny Texas Wash-In (The only thing Tiny in Texas!)

Best little wash-in in Texas? The first wash-in so close to home and I missed it! Anyway, looks like y'all had a good time. Certainly for any F&P fans! Their machines are so unique. Just what IS the 'forbidden' cycle? The fact that the drawer was open? Great collection, Glenn. Kelly

    NIB Maytag Wringer Rollers

Balloon rollers? When did Maytag use the air-filled 'balloon' rollers? Looks like those for sale are solid and the logo on the wrappers appears to be newer, rather than older.
