Frigidaire ranges RM-45, RM-65, RT-70 G (in Stratford Yellow), RT-38 (in Sherwood Green), RT-38 (in Stratford Yellow), and a Thermador range 5846-2 (really an L&H, according to the plaque). The green RT-38 is my daily driver, and I LOVE IT. I have a few retro small appliances: Osterizer 463 and 403 blenders, Hamilton Beach Food Converter 1FG, and several Sumbeam appliances from around 1954: deep fryer CF, Waffle Baker CG, Coffeemaster C-50, Percolator AP-10A, Egg Cooker E (the old one from the 1940s), and a Mixmaster Junior JC in chrome. Id love to have an all-vintage kitchen, but I havent yet achieved that dream.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
No.1: a Frigidaire RT-70 in Sherwood Green
and
No.2: a mid-1960s Maytag pair in turquoise or pink.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My great-aunt taught me to cook on her fantastic Frigidaire RD-20-63. Her kitchen had Youngstown cabinets, and she had Club and Guardian-Service pots and pans, a great old Sunbeam Mixmaster, and lots of other wonderful small appliances. I cooked for small and large crowds in that kitchen for 20 years--holidays, parties, and family reunions, and for her 90th birthday party, when we had over 100 guests. That kitchen--now long gone--holds some of the happiest memories of my life.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Lots of worthless "high-end" cr*p, until I finally realized that all the old stuff from my childhood was better than anything I had ever bought.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
No.
