1 westinghouse stove, 2 hotpoint refrigerators, and numerous small appliances. We used to run an appliance repair business, concentrating on small appliances. We also have 30+/- sewing machines.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Kelvinator Foodarama,
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Our first Hotpoint fridge was pickup free complete with a frozen solid freezer. It came out a 1940s post war house. They decided to get rid of it because it costing too much to run. Well, it basically had no gasket. We needed to use it and couldn't find the right gasket. we ended up using multiple layers of foam weather stripping. That was 17 years ago, she has been working 24/4 with only a minor additoin to our power bill.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Yes, in our repair business we had the experience of repairing a Western Holly built-in. I figured out how to replace the oven elements and repair the broken terminal blocks on my 40's/early 50s Westinghouse stove. My daily use kitchen appliances are all older than me. Luckily, they are pretty trouble free. It definitely is more challenging than newer stuff where you can have new parts with a few keystrokes.
