What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
In the '60s, my mom was in the basement with her Maytag 32, dual tubs, and clothes etc strung up everywhere with clothespins. Couldn't even see her. She'd do hours-long marathon sessions on Saturdays which would catch things up. As she was the whiz-bang bookkeeper, she still worked two to three days at the family R.E. firm. Some stuff was sent out to be cleaned and came back bundled in blue paper.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Don't remember them all
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Have kept the '50 Liberator going. My daughter's mother has claimed it for the last 3t years, and wouldn't give it up for the world. She wants some sort of matching fridge. I've been going through it the last week. R&Rd the clock yesterday, as the Telectron movement had stopped working. Just cleaned it all up, the thin layer of the airborne crease that settles on everything, the glass, etc, and it's back on line and looking pretty. Also replaced the burner bulbs with 15 watters. Big improvement. A new daylight fluorescent. Sweet! A new element and other little stuff. She's in great shape.
