What are your dream machines yet to be found?
A Matched Set of Turquoise or Yellow Automatic Washer & Dryer 1963 or Earlier.
I might consider a Pink Pair depending on style.
Also Vintage Window Air Conditioners.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
I remember My older relatives homes (Great Aunt, Aunt, Cousins, etc.) growing up that still had the Original Appliances from the 30s to the 50s, depending on when they got married. My Great Aunt still had her original Oak Ice Box, as a back up. Those memories always bring a smile to my face.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
I had saved/stored appliances for years, for when I would by my first house: 1963 Sears Classic Gas Visualite Range w/Hood and self standing cabinet, 1963 Kelvinator Foodarama 40" Side by Side Fridge, 1960 GE Stratoliner Pink Electric Range, 1959 Sears Kenmore Pink Automaic Clothes Dryer, 50s Philco-Matic Turquoise & White Automatic Washer w/Heated Ringer.
However, I had to part with all of these in order to save them. I was unexpectedly asked by the landlord of the storage building I rented to leave, as he wanted to use the building for his own business. It was either give them up or discard them. I had no time or place to move them to, due to landlords timetable. Fortunately a Very good friend closed on a house and gave them all an excellent home.
I am now finally in the process of buying my first house, and was able to get the full set of Turquoise Appliances listed above, from a house I had looked at buying, but someone else had already bid on. The new owners took my info and contacted me upon closing, as I expressed I wanted the appliances. My dream was always to have a complete set of Matching Appliances that were Installed together. I feel very fortunate.
