What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Inherited the 1954 Crosley Shelvador. We still have milkman in town and I still get milk in glass bottles. Crosley keeps it ICE cold. Went to Hotpoint factory tours in 1960s - 1980s. Hotpoint hdq was at 5600 West Taylor with factory adjacent. Sunbeam Corp was across the street (Roosevelt Road). Hotpoint had cool showroom and a mockup kitchen in middle of building to test appliances. Factory kept cats to get rid of mice. Watched dryers fly overhead. Watched compressors dunked into large fishtank to show bubbles. Amazing! My birth certificate says Hotpoint on it. (Q. What is fathers occupation? A. Hotpoint).
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Gram owned Crosley frig until 66. I inherited it years later. I use most my vintage stuff frequently. The fun is in owning it and using it.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Yes. I do my own work except for sealed-systems. For many years was trainer at a large Japanese TV & Appliance manufacturer. Wrote and performed training seminars for independent and department store service companies.
