    Admiral range 1958 questions

Thanks for the info. I am surprised by others who view this project as…. Doable. I also believe just about anything is restorable if you have the time and the money. I’m a bit skittish about this one… The missing knobs aren’t missing but were removed by me for cleaning and potential...

    Admiral range 1958 questions

Interesting you would say that. When I looked in the oven, the broil element said Chromalox. However, I thought that perhaps it was simply a replacement element. Perhaps these are all Chromalox. Thanks for the info.

    Admiral range 1958 questions

Thank you for the responses Since you mentioned pictures, I’ve enclosed a picture of the original brochure. Here’s what it looked like in its glory days. Pix of the range elements also follow. I only get to the house erratically so this is going to be a slow project. Can anyone identify the...

    Admiral range 1958 questions

This is probably the first of a series of questions. Perhaps you experts can guide me! In this case we have a 1958 Admiral range that resides in my late MIL’s basement. I learned to can on this range, but for the last twenty years it has been unplugged. This puppy is pretty rough after a long...

    Speed Queen dryer advice.

Tune-up! Armed with a fistful of part numbers, I visited our Speed-Queen “Platinum” distributor which has a parts counter. It is only a few miles from home. I did inspect the dryer beforehand. The quick overview didn’t detect any major issues so I decided to go for gold and renew a bunch of...

Jenn-Air oven s/m. How to obtain?

I could really use the FULL service manual for our Jenn-AIr JJW9830DDB wall-oven. 2005 vintage. I wish to evaluate the oven temperatures and perhaps spec them back again. We suspect the temps may have drifted over time and would like to know how to adjust, if possible. The on-line manuals are...

    Speed Queen dryer advice.

Update: Sort of. I haven’t gotten to address the dryer’s illnesses internally yet. However, my line voltage rose to 124. Now, I know that the dryer runs on 220, but monitoring the AC line of the house gives me a general idea as to line conditions. At 124VAC line, I loaded up a heavy load...

    Speed Queen dryer advice.

Hello all. Time to seek advice of the experts. Dryer is a Speed Queen model AES68AWF. Purchased new in 2005. Great unit. We do a lot of laundry and over the last 19 years it has weathered an unbelievable amount of cycles. Many, many hours on this unit. It has been superbly maintained by...

Mini-split / Outdoor unit fan direction

I am considering adding a heat-cool mini-split to resolve a too cold / too hot den over the garage. However, I am concerned about the outdoor unit. Does the slimline condenser unit blow air directly out of the fan or does the fan suck air into the condenser and exhaust upward / outward...

Best Microwave Ever Built For Home Use

SHARP R-930 I vote for the Sharp R-930 microwave - convection combination. Not only does it do all things competently, it also has a fire-safe feature. The temperature of the oven cavity is monitored about every 32 seconds. Should a fire occur in the cavity during microwave operation and its...

    Admiral 1957 Refrigerator defrost concept

Looking forward to pix It would be interesting to see pix of your yellow Westy. This topic is a bit different than what I normally delve in so I appreciate learning about the breadth of this topic. It just occurred to me this minute, when my boss at S***P retired, the former SVC MGR for JC...

    Admiral 1957 Refrigerator defrost concept

By golly, Defrost works Thanks for all your information. I have learned a lot more about single-door refrigerators. Got around to testing the defrost system. I didn’t really know if it was just an on/off heater switch, a heater-on/ compressor off switch, or just a compressor-off switch, or...

    Admiral 1957 Refrigerator defrost concept

Flaps 1,2,3 I have a smattering (yes, a smattering) of Admiral data in the dungeon. I dug through and actually found a reference to this flap in a spec sheet of only one, somewhat older Admiral fridge. For those of you who ever encounter this, it is called the “Adjustable Climate Control...
