What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My families mid-fifties Bendix Front Loader washer, and the the Whirlpool Imperial Mark XII matched set (1961 model), Tappan "Fabulous 400" range, Westinghouse disposal (1967) replaced by General Electric series wound disposal rith Carboloy cutter (1971), Hoover Constellation floating vacuum cleaner, replaced by GE swivel top vaccum, Modern Maid dishwasher (1968) replaced by GE Potscrubber (1973), General Electric hi-lo Americana range with full-sized microwave in the bottom oven (1974), and General Electric American side by side with ice/water dispenser. All these GE appliances were in Avocado green.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Too many too give accurate count, but approximately, I have had: 5 Maytag Reverse Rack dishwashers (1 direct drive, 4 belt-drive), 3 General Electric GSD2800 dishwashers, 2 Frigidaire 1-18 washers, 3 Frigidaire 1-18 dryers, 24 - 30 disposals (including Hobart/Kitchen-Aid, Viking, Waste King, National, General Electric induction and series wound including the Piranha, Maytag, and several Anaheim Manufacturing units (U.S. made with induction motors) under various trade names. GE Elec-Trak lawn tractor, many GE coffee makers, approx. 10 GE blenders, 6 GE mixers, 4 vintage sunbeam Mix Masters, Sunbeam vacuum coffee maker
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Yes!! Frequently. Often pick up discarded appliances left out for peoples trash pick-up or get appliances at thrift stores. Will repair and then refurbish these. After testing and having fun playing with them, I usually give them to family and/or friends or re-donate them back to the thrift stores.
