Thank you all for your responses. It is hinged. It folds into the side a snuggles up very nicely. I pulled it out of an estate sell house here in Nashville TN. I'm going to attach more pictures of it here in a few minutes. It was too cool to leave, just wish I had a use for.

I am trying to figure out what exactly I have here. I found a thread on here from 2013 but that is all the internet has to offer. I hope you antique geniuses can help.
