    Driving Miss Daisy cars

There were two black Cadillacs used in the movie. One was a 1955 Fleetwood that did have factory A/C. The other was a black 1956 Sedan deVille, that did not have factory A/C. The 1956 model was used on the trip to Mobile, AL. The 1956 model has a chrome spear that runs along the rear quarter...

    Kelvinator Foodarama?

WCI?? The Kelvinator font looks WCI to me. I am thinking this fridge is Kelvinator only in name.

Apex Wash-a-Matic re-Restoration and Full Cycle Video

Great restoration job Robert, as always! Thanks for the detailed photos and explanation, of the operation of this very rare machine. I had to replace the motor on my 1958 Norge as well. Sometimes a modern replacement is just the right way to go. This Apex machine should run for many more decades...

    Video about 1950's kitchens

I certainly like the pastel colors of the 1950's much better than the drab earth tone shades of the 1970's. Even photos from the 70's have a sepia tone to them. Not a great era for clothing styles either.

1966-80 Maytag Center-Dials: do they look more 60s or 70s?

I have always thought that all 1966 on up center dial Maytags looked much older than what they really were. To me they even have a 1950's look to them. I have always said that if someone wanted a 1950's look in their laundry room but could not restore a 1950's machine for whatever reason, to...

    Moving a '49 Westinghouse

I have a 1948 GE combination, and when I moved it to the body shop to be painted, I used some wood blocks as shims for the compressor, so it would not be jolted around. I left them in place until I got the fridge back home, several months later. It has been working fine, thirteen years later. I...

1967 Hamilton 800 washer and dryer

DADeOS You were spot on about the pump out rate. I looked behind the machine to find the drain hose kinked. I will do another load in this machine on Thursday, and I bet the spin won't stall out on the long spray rinse.

1967 Hamilton 800 washer and dryer

Hi David I don't know the spin speed, and I doubt anyone else does either. It is faster than my 58 Maytag, so I would guess around 800.

1967 Hamilton 800 washer and dryer

Thanks for the interest and comments. The dryer is gas and works very well. The rollers have flat spots from sitting for so long, so you hear "thump, thump, thump" as the dryer runs. It gets a bit better as it warms up, but it never goes away. The dryer also has a standing pilot, so I close the...
