I now have these vintage major appliances:
1975 General Motors Frigidaire top-freezer fridge (harvest gold). It is used as a second fridge and works better than the modern Whirlpool top-freezer model in my kitchen.
March 1980 Frigidaire Electri-Clean coil burner stove (almond). Although this is a White Consolidated Industries product, it was extremely well cared for and works beautifully.
My vintage small kitchen appliances include the following (all new in their boxes when acquired):
1977 West Bend electric fry pan (harvest gold)
1991 Hamilton Beach two-speed food processor (white)
1975 Sunbeam 5-Speed Burst-of-Power Mixmaster hand mixer (avocado green)
1977 Sears [Hamilton Beach] Crock Watcher slow cooker (harvest gold)
1979 Hamilton Beach Popaire hot air corn popper (ivory/orange)
1977 Salton Quick Mill coffee/spice grinder (beige/orange)
1986 Regina 2-Speed ElectrikBroom (ivory/brown)
1977 Hamilton Beach 14-speed solid state blender
(harvest gold/white)
1976 Dominion-Hamilton Beach Little Mac fast cooker
(black/orange)
1977 Presto Fry Daddy deep fryer
(black)
I also have some used but well-cared-for vintage countertop appliances including:
1971 Osterizer Imperial Dual-Range Cyclomatic 14 blender (chrome/white)
I have also taken a renewed interest recently in the old Bell System telephones. These Trimline models are in excellent shape and used daily in my home:
1969 yellow Western Electric desk rotary dial
1979 yellow Western Electric desk Touch-Tone (round button non-LED)
1979 yellow Western Electric wall Touch-Tone (round button non-LED)
1980 bright red Western Electric desk rotary dial
1984 post Ma Bell rust Western Electric desk Touch-Tone
1984 post Ma Bell brown Western Electric wall Touch-Tone
1985 post Ma Bell white Western Electric Touch-Tone
1990 black AT&T Touch-Tone (last model available for rent)
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I like to find makes and models of appliances that I remember from childhood. So, anything in the wild designer colors from 1970s to the early 1980s especially interests me.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
I have many and will have to think about that one. More to come....
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
The only major appliances I own are the ones used everyday in my house:
1975 Frigidaire and 2002 Whirlpool top-freezer refrigerators
2004 Kenmore gas grill
2002 Whirlpool dishwasher
2012 Kenmore garbage disposer
2002 Whirlpool over-the-range microwave oven
March 1980 Frigidaire Electri-Clean coil burner stove
2004 Kenmore upright deep freezer
2013 Speed Queen electric dryer
2013 Speed Queen top-load washer
2006 Kenmore automatic humidifier
Of course I have modern small kitchen and floor care appliances, too:
Kitchen-Aid Classic stand mixer
Presto electric griddle
Kenmore Progressive canister vacuum
Bunn BX coffee pot
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Yes, I have replaced the faulty oven element in my Kenmore electric stove, the cracked rinse aid dispenser in my Whirlpool dishwasher, and the thermostat in my Whirlpool fridge.
I am currently in the process of restoring the 1981 Kenmore 24-inch washer that belonged to my grandparents.
