How does a steam dishwasher work? Is there a small compartment that fills with water and that just steams or is it the whole tub?

I loved my apartment size washer, saved me lots of money and time. I always wondered why there was a water level setting. I really don't know what you could wash on the lowest setting, a shirt perhaps?

Just wondering how dangerous these washers were to use? With the exposed motor and splashing water and touching a metal tub, were electric shocks common on wash day?

It looks a lot like the Admiral dishwasher my mom had. I believe the cycles were rinse and hold, pots and pans, double wash, double wash with sani, short sani wash, china and crystal. You had to match the letter a, b or c on the dial to the letter on the button. The lights on hers...

There is a matching dryer. Interesting that they have "on" lights. The dryer is really loud, you don't need to see a light to know its going. Didn't try the washer. I did pull out the softener dispenser, should there be a lint filter in there?

Tried to move the washer, it weighs a ton.

They are still in use. The owner is switching to stainless steel. The racks have two spots on them. they look like they have been burned. The owner uses paper plates because plates take up too much room in the dishwasher. It has only been used for pots, glasses and silverware.

Would these appliances be from the early 90's? Nice looking dishwasher.
