This debate comes up fairly frequently. I have both FL and TL machines and I really like all of them but in my opinion, FL washers are superior in wash / rinse and spin results. Also they use soooo much less water. OK, they can take a long time to complete a cycle but that is a small sacrifice...
I have 2 LG FL washers, an old 1990s GE Filter flo and a Fisher and Paykel Smartdrive TL washer. I did have a smaller F&P TL washer that I got 2nd hand in 2004 which has just bitten the dust. Very sad. I will be taking delivery very soon of a Fisher and Paykel 18kg washer dryer combo. Very...
I had and still have a Maytag Atlantis pair. Must be over 20 years old. I don’t have them hooked up anymore. Worst washing machine I have ever used. Washed and rinsed really badly and very noisy when running. The drier was pretty good but like all electric driers very expensive to run. I have a...
There is a very similar Samsung model here in Australia but doesn’t have the slanting control panel. Similar spec and cheaper. Just don’t like the look of it. Probably Haier too

So after weeks and weeks of deciding, I have taken the plunge and ordered the new Fisher and Paykel 18kg washer with 10kg combined drier. Not cheap but I really figured I deserved a new machine. Hope it will arrive in the next week or so...
I love my Fisher and Paykel double dish drawer. For just the two of us it works really well running smaller loads once or twice a day. Even on the quickly wash it gives great results. My biggest peeve is if I drop a spoon or something and it drops thru the rack it is difficult to retrieve...
I really like the look of this washer dryer combo. Looking forward to the release. Sure it will be over $5000 au. Would be a shame if it does not spray water over the load during the wash and rinse phases. I feel this should be a standard feature on all new front load washers.
Just had a look at one in Harvey Norman. No rubber boot around the drum and no port to spray water over the load. Don’t think I will get one. Might stick to LG.
Thinking it is about time I brought a new washing machine. Been looking on line at Asko front loaders at Harvey Norman. Very expensive. They look very sleek. Real mix of reviews. Not sure if they spray water over the load during the cycle like LG machines do. Anyone have any experience of Asko?
My Bosch series 6 does not detect if the water level drops. I had a similar incident when a plastic pot flipped and filled with water. I could hear the wash pump pumping air as well as water. Opened up the door and tipped water out of pot and secured it and all was well.
My LG washer which is less than 5 years old has started to pump the wash water out at about 15 minutes in to the wash cycle. The time indicator had 3 more hours to go to complete the cycle. It has done this on 2 occasions this morning. I was running the cotton cycle on 60C (140F). I ran the...
This thread reminded me of a Simpson TL washer that was introduced here in Australia a few years back. It had only a few tiny holes in the inner tub and water was constantly pumped from the outer tub to the inner tub.
The rationale was that the inner tub would be full of water washing the load...
Thanks Gizmo, that is really interesting. Defo won’t be splashing out on a Speed Queen TL from Harvey Norman. Second worst machine in there list of washers not to buy. The guys from the USA seem to really like the Speed Queen TL. It certainly is reminiscent of the top load washers in regards to...
