I wouldnt mind a newer, 1950s and up wringer washer. Brand isnt important.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My grandmothers 1960s Lady Kenmore washer. It was the kind with the alphabet cycles and the push buttons to set each cycle. Matched with it was her 1950s Kelvinator Dryer. I remember it had a knob on the door you had to turn to open it or lock it shut.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
My first washer I ever bought was the 1978 Maytag purchased in 2001 from a used appliance dealer. It was my daily driver until September of 2017 when I bought a new 2017 Speed Queen 8 series set. The Maytag was reduced to light duty at that time. I just recently purchased a 1968 Kenmore 110.6814700 on Craigslist that is in amazing condition. I am the 3rd owner since new. The first owner was a collector so it saw only very light use until he sold it in 2004. The second owner bought it because it was the same model his mother had when he was a kid. He used it as his main washer washing 1 to 2 loads per week as he was single up until June 2020 when I bought it. I have a You Tube channel and all three machines have made multiple appearances there.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
I have done routine maintenance repairs, belts, bearings, a tub brake on my 1978 Maytag etc. Some rust repair on my 1968 Kenmore. No restorations.
