What are your dream machines yet to be found?
I wouldn't want to have any appliances as I haven't got any room but I would like to see a thread on a Lavamat 571 or any of the later AEGs that were still made in Germany.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
My Grandmas AEG Lavamat 561 washer, most of its performances particularly the half drain where it mixed the cold rinse water with the hot water, also the spinning sequences where fascinating and the noises it made.
I also have memories of a Hoover logic dryer that had crease guard at the home economics room at school and how that made me jump, I loved how that dried the laundry with the fast reversing tumbles.
The other good memory I had is of my grannies Hotpoint New generation 95 series washer. It made an amazing sound when it went into spin very much like the old commercial laundrette machines.
My mum and I used to go to the local laundrette (that is shut down) when I was small when our Aquarius broke down and used to wash our bedding in the machines there, they made an amazing sound when they went into their spin cycle.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
My mother had 2 hotpoint 95 series washers, the second being an Aquarius washer.
My granny had a Hotpoint new generation 95 series washer right up until she went into a home before she passed away.
My grandma had a Lavamat 561 for about 22/23 years before it died in 2006.
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
No, but know some people that had and seen a few major appliances being repaired.
