It is an Australian made Easy
I remember these machines in the 60's and in 1964 Choice Magazine reviewed them in great detail along with other automatics including Malleys Whirlpool, Simpson, Turner, Pope, General Electric, and Hoover Keymatic.

Australian Easy
Hi Micko,
I remember a neighbour having one of those in the mid 1960's. Exactly as you described. I have a Choice Magazine from that period which includes a very detailed test. I can scan and send to you.

Fantastic collection
Hi Leon,
I just loved seeing pics of some of the machines I saw operating in the 1960's. By the age of 5 I was fascinated in washing machines and my mother's first was a Westinghouse wringer with a cast aluminium agitator. My close school friend's family bought the...
I remember this machine
One of my friends mother had this machine and I remember it in the late 1950's. Fully automatics were very scarce then and I recall only the Bendix front loaders around the same time. There were lots of twin tubs and wringer washers. It is similar to the 1950's Hotpoint...
I remember them
Hi Nathan,
I remember my Mum using these at a caravan park on the Gold Coast back in the 60's. Your spinner looks like it has a safety lid on it - does it stop when you lift the lid? The ones I remember only had a loose fitting lid with a hole in the centre. I guess it was...
brings back memories
Nathan,
How fantastic to find this and thanks for doing the video. I remember these from my childhood but I couldn't remember how much they thrashed the clothes around - the whole tub moves and the central agitator is fixed if my memory serves me? One of our neighbours...
I remember them
I remember these Lightburn washing machines in caravan parks in the 1960's. They produced loads of creamy lather and could take much more washing than the standard twin tubs of their day. I think they were also popular with institutions such as the armed services. There was no...
Memories of the Simpsons
I love the design of these machines and they had a reputation for being trouble free and long lasting. My mother had same machine as yours Fluidriver for a long long time and on the rare occasions it needed repairing the technicians told her to never get rid of it...
connection with Simpson
Leon,
In your earlier thread about your beautiful push button Simpson I referred to a late 1950's fully auto Simpson that looked like a Hotpoint but had a similar agitator to your Simpson and Robert's Wizard described above. Another connection with Beam/Franklin?

Suds save
Hi Leon,
You are correct about the function of the suds save. I mentioned in an earlier reply that my parents bought their machine new in 1973 but I recall now it was 1972 when they moved into their newly-built house.
The agitator is fairly similar looking to that in a late 50's...
my mother had one
Congratulations on finding this. My mother bought one in 1973 and had it for about 24 years. It was a terrific machine and mechanics always raved about how well built they were. They had an interesting suds saver option that siphoned the water into the outer tub and then when...
Turner memories
What a fabulous find Chris. I remember a neighbour who had one of these. If I recall you have to twist the black bakerlite knob on the top of the agitator to send the bowl into spin. I also remember the sloshing of the water as the suds save operation started and sudsy water...
