    1990s Maytag Dishwasher Help Please

I think I found the problem! There is a plastic pump housing with a plastic disk which was plastic-welded to the bottom. The plastic welds broke, and the disk fell onto the impeller. When it was washing, the pressure would force the disk back up against the housing, and it would be quiet...

The model was on the recall, but not this serial number. Good to be cautious though. Thanks, Dave

    1990s Maytag Dishwasher Help Please

I’m visiting my parents and they have a Maytag dishwasher they bought in the mid 1990s, if I recall correctly. It has been fantastic and the best dishwasher I’ve ever lived with. I love the rack design, its speed, and thoroughness, but it’s having an issue I cannot figure out. This is a real...

Whirlpool 27" Dryer Overheating Help Please

Fixed! I pulled out the element and there was no sign of damage. Nevertheless, I swapped it out with a spare I had and now it's working just fine. Thank you for your input! Dave

Whirlpool 27" Dryer Overheating Help Please

Thank you It's got good old fashioned knobs. It's matched with a similar vintage Direct Drive top loading washer. The high limit thermostat and fuse have identical openings in teh side of the heating element housing. The exploded drawing shows the fuse in the back and the high limit...

Whirlpool 27" Dryer Overheating Help Please

I'm trying to help a friend with a Whirlpool 27" dryer from the later 1990s. It's the one with 4 rollers and the lint filter below the door. The dryer keeps overheating and blowing the high limit thermal fuse on the side of the heating element. I've replaced the high limit thermostat & fuse...

Advice needed for a refrigerator start relay.

A friend of mine has about a 1941 monster of a double door GE refrigerator, and I think it weighs around 700 pounds (he has affectionately named his fridge "Bertha"). At some point in the last 30 years, the compressor was replaced (by a previous owner). The compressor is an Embraco FF10HBK...

My Summer of Vintage Washer Rubber Reproduction

Take My Money! I'll need a complete set for my '58 Unimatic and some Kenmore caps too. Once you nail down pricing, I'll order some. Thank you for creating these parts & allowing our machines & the technology to live on! Dave

Advice needed regarding motor carbon brushes

Thank you John I could use brushes and springs as soon as you encounter some. I'l gladly pay for them & shipping. There are 2 sizes and I'll need the larger size. I'm guessing the larger size is used on the 3/4 & 1 HP versions. Unfortunately I don't know any plumbers. Thank you!!! Dave

Advice needed regarding motor carbon brushes

I have a 1 horsepower Waste King L-8000 garbage disposal made by Anaheim that is unused. It was given to me by someone who took it apart to swap the electric cord for a hard-wire connection, didn't know what they were doing, and lost the carbon brushes and springs. Part numbers do exist, but...

    57 Kenmore Dryer belts

This was not what I expected. I always thought that these Whirlpool dryers with the belt-driven blowers used 3 belts. 1 belt from the motor to the blower. 1 belt from the motor to the drum reduction pulley. 1 belt from the drum reduction pulley to the drum pulley. This 1957 model uses 2 belts...

If Anybody is Looking For Maytag Transmission Oil, I've Got It

I got it! I ordered and received 2 bottles, but have yet to tear into the project. I wish I had brought my Agi Tamer with me! Many thanks, Dave

Westinghouse slant front heating element broke.

Drooping Heating elements can droop. So long as they are sufficiently supported with porcelain insulators that they don’t break or touch metal and ground out, it’s okay. Dave

Westinghouse slant front heating element broke.

Update He had a spare element restring, so it’s working again. Still curious if the GE restring kit could be used in the future though. Dave
