Westinghouse Laundromat Washers & Dryers (1959 - 1976)
KitchenAid (Hobart) KDI & KDS-17 & (KDS-20-bought new in 1985 & currently using-only problem with it-replaced the bi- metal on the soap dispenser).
Whirlpool/Kenmore Top Load (Belt Drive) Washers (1965-1981). Currently using my (now deceased) stepmoms 1981 Almond Whirlpool matching laundry set.
Also, numerous Westinghouse Small Appliances: fans, mixers, irons, toasters, etc... & (some) Sunbeam Mixers.
About 4 old Hoover upright vacuums and 4 old Electrolux canister vacuums. (Good thing I dont own a warehouse-the list could be endless).
Two old: Magic Chef & Amana microwave ovens.
What are your dream machines yet to be found?
Early model 1950s Westinghouse Laundromat washer. (1950-1958) I would like to one day see, a 1953(+-) Westinghouse Laundromat in service, like the one, in one of the many, Betty Furness TV commercials. They show the tub tilts when it drains & washes. Very interesting design. Always wondered how that worked. I guess that design, is what made "The Sand Test", as demonstrated by Betty Furness, a success, back in the day.
What are your earliest and favorite appliance memories?
Remembering our 1950 Westinghouse Laundromat and our Westinghouse refrigerator (just like the one shown on the old "I Love Lucy" shows), at age 4.
What is the history of appliances you have owned?
Too numerous to count, but, started out tinkering with various brands. Around 1972. Finally, narrowed it down to the Westinghouse Front Loader & Whirlpool/Kenmore belt drive models. (I preferred the best).
Have you ever worked on, repaired and/or restored any major appliances?
Have rebuilt Whirlpool/Kenmore belt drive machines in the past. I currently have some early 60 model Westinghouse Laundromat machines that are in need of restoring. (Some day, hope to find a buddy who is interested in restoring old appliances).
